The Enz Vineyard in Lime Kiln Valley, located in San Benito County, showcases Pinot Noir grown on soils rich in limestone and decomposed granite. Since 1967, the Enz family has been cultivating this vineyard, which is also renowned for its ancient Mourvedre vines dating back to 1895. In the 1980s, the Pinot Noir vines were grafted onto even older roots, and the vineyard has been managed organically without the use of irrigation. The grapes for this wine were carefully handpicked from August 24th to September 1st and underwent fermentation, with 30% of the clusters being included whole. Following fermentation, the wine matured for 13 months in neutral barrels and puncheons, and it was neither fined nor filtered before bottling.
